J&K Government Employees to Observe Two-Minute Silence in Honour of Victims

Srinagar, 23 April 2025: In a solemn gesture of respect and mourning, government employees across Jammu and Kashmir will observe a two-minute silence today in memory of the 26 victims of the recent terror attack in Pahalgam.

The directive was issued by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, who announced the observance via his official X (formerly Twitter) handle. “In light of the tragic killing of innocent civilians by terrorists in Pahalgam, all government office employees across Jammu and Kashmir are requested to observe a two-minute silence at 3:30 PM today as a mark of respect and solidarity,” the Chief Minister stated.

The attack, which took place on Tuesday, has left the region and the nation in deep grief, with political leaders and civil society members alike condemning the act of violence. The silence is intended not only as a tribute to the deceased, but also as a demonstration of unity in the face of terror.

Public offices throughout the union territory are expected to comply with the directive, and several private institutions have also indicated their intent to participate in the moment of reflection.

The Pahalgam attack has reignited calls for enhanced security measures and a cohesive national response to terrorism, particularly in vulnerable regions such as Jammu and Kashmir.
