Accompanied by the Deputy Commissioner of Ramban and senior civil and police officials, the Chief Minister travelled by road from Srinagar to Marog, one of the most severely impacted villages. Demonstrating his unwavering commitment to the people of Jammu and Kashmir, CM Abdullah undertook a rigorous trek through challenging, rugged terrain to reach Kela Morh, where the cloudburst had triggered flash floods, leaving a trail of widespread destruction. During his visit, the Chief Minister engaged with local residents and officials from the district administration, who briefed him on the scale of the damage and the progress of the ongoing rescue and relief operations. CM Abdullah expressed his heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased and assured the people of Ramban that the government stands resolutely by their side in this time of profound loss and hardship. "The scale of destruction is deeply distressing. Our administration is on the ground, working tirelessly to ensure the safety, relief, and rehabilitation of every affected family," CM Omar Abdullah remarked. He added, "We shall leave no stone unturned in standing by our people during this extraordinarily difficult time." The Chief Minister has further directed the relevant departments to expedite the restoration of the National Highway to facilitate the resumption of vehicular movement at the earliest opportunity. In his discussions with the district administration, CM Abdullah was informed that clearance operations are progressing rapidly, with teams from the Public Works Department (PWD), Border Roads Organisation (BRO), disaster response units, police forces, volunteers, and local residents working ceaselessly around the clock to clear mudslides and boulders, and to restore normalcy to the affected areas. The Chief Minister reiterated that the government would continue to monitor the situation with utmost urgency and ensure that all necessary assistance and support is extended to the affected communities. |
