Chief Minister Omar Abdullah Conducts Second Visit to Flood-Affected Areas in Jammu and Kashmir

Ramban, 22 April 2025: The Honourable Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Shri Omar Abdullah, today conducted a second visit to regions severely affected by the recent flash floods, demonstrating the government’s continued commitment to relief, rehabilitation, and restoration in the wake of the natural disaster.

The Chief Minister travelled from Srinagar to the heavily impacted Maroog–Kela Morh section of the Jammu–Srinagar National Highway, which has remained closed for a third consecutive day due to persistent disruption and damage. His presence on the ground underscores the urgency of restoring critical infrastructure and ensuring the safe movement of essential services.

Utilising aerial transport, the Chief Minister subsequently flew to the Chanderkote area of Ramban district earlier this morning. From there, he proceeded directly to Seri, a locality significantly affected by landslides. During his visit, Mr Abdullah conducted a detailed assessment of the extent of the damage and interacted directly with residents whose lives and livelihoods have been disrupted by the calamity.

Throughout the visit, the Chief Minister met with numerous displaced and distressed families, offering them assurances of continued government support and a prompt response to their immediate needs. He reaffirmed the administration’s resolve to intensify relief efforts and to work in close coordination with district authorities, disaster response teams, and civil society to accelerate recovery operations.

The Government of Jammu and Kashmir remains resolute in its mission to ensure the safety, welfare, and rehabilitation of all citizens impacted by the disaster.
