District Commissioner Leads Rescue and Relief Efforts Following Devastating Rains and Flash Floods in Ramban




Ramban, 20th April 2025: The District Administration of Ramban has launched extensive rescue and relief operations in response to the severe rainfall and flash floods that have struck several parts of the district earlier this morning.

Deputy Commissioner Baseer-Ul-Haq Chaudhary is personally overseeing the ongoing operations in the affected areas. Accompanied by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ramban, Kulbir Singh, and other senior officials, the Deputy Commissioner conducted a thorough assessment of the situation on the ground and is coordinating closely with the specialised teams involved in the relief and restoration efforts.

Teams from a range of agencies, including the Police, State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), Civil Quick Response Teams (QRTs), the Army, and local non-governmental organisations, are working tirelessly to provide aid and restore essential services to the affected communities.

The Deputy Commissioner expressed his profound sorrow at the tragic loss of three lives, including two children and an elderly individual, and extended his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families. He reiterated that the primary focus of the District Administration remains on saving lives and restoring critical infrastructure and services as swiftly as possible.

Emphasising the urgency of the situation, the Deputy Commissioner affirmed that the Administration is diligently implementing government directives to intensify rescue operations and safeguard the welfare of those affected.

He also acknowledged the commendable response of the public, particularly their adherence to the advisories issued via social media and other communication channels. The Deputy Commissioner noted that the public’s vigilance and cooperation had played an essential role in minimising the loss of life during the calamity.

While confirming that significant property damage and infrastructural disruption have been reported across various parts of the district, the Deputy Commissioner appealed to the public to refrain from entering hazardous areas, including nallahs and landslide-prone zones, and to remain in safer locations until conditions improve.

Additionally, the Deputy Commissioner urged the public to rely solely on authentic and verified sources of information and to refrain from spreading or acting on rumours, which could exacerbate the already challenging situation.

The District Administration of Ramban remains fully committed to providing the necessary assistance to the affected communities and continues to monitor the situation with the utmost urgency.
