J&K LG Manoj Sinha Engages with YPO-Global One Members in Srinagar, Highlights Economic Growth and Industrial Opportunities![]() Srinagar, 19th April 2025: Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha today engaged with members of YPO-Global One, a prestigious international network of business leaders and CEOs, during their visit to Srinagar. The meeting focused on the evolving economic landscape of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) and the region's strategic approach to sustainable growth. In his keynote address, the Lieutenant Governor outlined the comprehensive, multi-faceted strategy implemented over the past five years aimed at fostering economic development, sustainability, and the seamless delivery of social welfare programmes. He emphasised the Government's commitment to achieving inclusive and sustainable economic growth. “Our vision is to foster faster, sustainable, and inclusive economic growth in Jammu and Kashmir,” said Shri Sinha. “We have adopted a strategic approach to harness the industrial potential of the region while maintaining a balance between economic development, environmental sustainability, and social progress.” The Lieutenant Governor shared valuable insights into the region’s industrial transformation and emerging opportunities, stressing the importance of environmentally responsible growth. He reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring that industrial advancements benefit all residents of Jammu and Kashmir. “I am dedicated to ensuring that the industrial growth we foster in J&K reaches every citizen. Additionally, we are determined to make J&K a leader in innovation, particularly in areas such as research, information technology, and ITeS. By leveraging local skill sets and natural resources, we are promoting sectors where we have a competitive advantage,” he added. Highlighting key industries, Shri Sinha noted the burgeoning tourism sector, which has seen a significant rise in visitor numbers. He underscored the vast untapped potential in areas such as film tourism, entertainment, and resort development, particularly given that tourism has now been granted industry status in the region. “We are committed to tapping into the vast tourism potential of Jammu and Kashmir. With an increasing influx of tourists, there are immense opportunities in unexplored destinations, film tourism, theme parks, and resorts,” the Lieutenant Governor stated. The Lieutenant Governor also spotlighted the Government's forward-thinking policies aimed at promoting the startup ecosystem and supporting women entrepreneurs in J&K. He referenced the recently launched Startup Policy of February 2024, which has already seen the establishment of over 1,030 startups, with 380 of them being led by women. “This is a significant achievement in empowering women and restoring the pride of Nari Shakti in Jammu and Kashmir,” said Shri Sinha. Further, the Lieutenant Governor highlighted the Government's initiatives in revitalising the region's traditional industries, noting that exports of handloom, handicrafts, and horticultural products have doubled. He expressed confidence that Jammu and Kashmir has become a leader in these sectors, with no competition in the global market. Addressing queries from YPO members, Shri Sinha elaborated on the factors that make J&K an attractive destination for investment, including economic stability, skilled labour, abundant raw materials, competitive incentives, and a secure business environment. He also praised the region’s urban transformation, which has elevated the quality of life in cities across Jammu and Kashmir. “Jammu and Kashmir offers a high standard of living, with strong public safety, healthcare, education systems, and low living expenses,” he remarked. “These factors make the region well-suited for multinational companies and businesses looking to expand.” The Lieutenant Governor also took the opportunity to speak on the peace and security situation in the region. He reiterated that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, Jammu and Kashmir has entered a transformative era of peace and inclusive development. “We do not believe in buying peace; we are working to establish peace,” Shri Sinha affirmed. “The Jammu and Kashmir Police and security forces are committed to eliminating terrorism and its entire ecosystem. I am confident that, within the next six months, the Jammu region will fully regain peace.” The event was attended by Shri Vikramaditya Singh, former legislator, members of YPO-Global One, and other prominent industry leaders. |
