CEC Tashi Gyalson Convenes Meeting with BJP Leaders to Address Widespread Damage Caused by Unseasonal Weather Across Ladakh

Leh, 21st April 2025: The Hon’ble Chairman/Chief Executive Councillor (CEC) of the LAHDC Leh, Advocate Tashi Gyalson, convened a meeting today with BJP State President Phunchok Stanzin, former CEC Gyal P. Wangyal, and BJP Ladakh State General Secretary PT Kunzang, to deliberate on the extensive damage wrought by recent unseasonal snowfall and rainfall across various regions of Ladakh.

The anomalous weather conditions have caused severe damage, most notably to apricot orchards, which constitute a vital component of the region’s agrarian economy. Local farmers have suffered substantial losses as a result. In addition to agricultural impact, the meeting also addressed significant damage to public infrastructure and private residences in the affected areas.

During the deliberations, CEC Tashi Gyalson assured the gathering that necessary support measures would be undertaken at the Council level. He further affirmed that matters relating to restoration and compensation will be vigorously pursued in close coordination with the Union Territory Administration of Ladakh.

CEC Tashi Gyalson informed that all Sub-Divisional Magistrates (SDMs) have been directed to promptly assess the extent of the damage within their respective jurisdictions. Additionally, restoration of essential services—including road connectivity, electricity, Public Health Engineering (PHE), and irrigation canals (Khuls)—has been prioritised.

He further stated that specific instructions have been issued to expedite the restoration of critical routes falling under the jurisdiction of the Border Roads Organisation (BRO), ensuring swift re-establishment of connectivity across the region.

The Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC) has reiterated its unwavering commitment to supporting all those affected by the recent events. Relief, rehabilitation, and compensation efforts will be executed in close and continuous coordination with the UT Administration to ensure a timely and effective response.
