Waqf Board Grants Job to Brother of Pahalgam Martyr, Posthumously Awards Bravery Honour

Srinagar, 1 May 2025: In a solemn and heartfelt gesture, Dr Syed Darakhshan Andrabi, Chairperson of the Jammu & Kashmir Waqf Board, today presented an appointment letter on compassionate grounds to Mr Nazakat Shah, brother of Shaheed Syed Adil Hussain, who lost his life in the Pahalgam terror attack while heroically protecting civilians from the assailants.

In recognition of his supreme sacrifice, the Waqf Board has not only extended employment to the martyr’s brother but also posthumously conferred a Bravery Award upon Syed Adil Hussain, honouring his valor and selflessness in the face of terror.

Dr Andrabi was accompanied on the occasion by prominent leaders including BJP J&K President Mr Sat Sharma, General Secretary (Organisation) Mr Ashok Koul, Shri Vibodh Gupta, MLA Dr Maniyal, and Mr Sofi Yousuf.

Addressing those gathered, Dr Andrabi remarked:
“Our fight against terrorism must be backed by tangible actions. The Waqf Board resolved to provide a job to the brother of the brave martyr who held our head high during the massacre of innocent tourists at Pahalgam. Mere lip service doesn't work; and hence, as a people's Board, we took the decision to honour the martyr and support his family financially.”

The move was widely lauded by attendees. BJP President Mr Sat Sharma and General Secretary Mr Ashok Koul commended the Waqf Board’s compassionate and exemplary decision, stating that it had set a proud and meaningful precedent.

In a deeply emotional moment, Mr Syed Nazakat, the brother of the martyr, expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the Waqf Board and its Chairperson for their support during a period of profound loss:
“I thank the Board and Dr Andrabi for standing with our family in such difficult times.”

The event stood as a poignant reminder of the sacrifices made by brave citizens in defence of humanity and underscored the importance of institutional compassion and national solidarity in times of tragedy.
