Minister Sakina Itoo Inaugurates Shaheed Wali Mohammad Itoo Memorial SDH at D.H. Pora and NTPHC at Ahmadabad, Kulgam




Kulgam, 1 May 2025: In a significant stride towards strengthening rural healthcare infrastructure, the Hon’ble Minister for Health and Medical Education, Social Welfare, and Education, Ms Sakina Itoo, today inaugurated the Shaheed Wali Mohammad Itoo Memorial Sub-District Hospital (SDH) at D.H. Pora and the newly constructed New Type Primary Health Centre (NTPHC) building at Ahmadabad, Kulgam.

These long-awaited healthcare facilities, fulfilling a sustained demand of the local populace, are set to greatly improve access to medical services across this remote belt of the district. The Sub-District Hospital, a state-of-the-art facility constructed at a cost of ₹11 crore by the Police Housing Corporation, is designed to serve a substantial population with improved and equitable healthcare delivery.

Addressing the public gathering on this momentous occasion, the Hon’ble Minister reaffirmed the government’s unwavering commitment to the advancement of healthcare services in rural areas.
She remarked, “The Omar Abdullah-led government remains dedicated to public welfare, and numerous initiatives have been undertaken in recent months to uplift the lives of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.”
She further directed the concerned authorities to integrate a 30-bed AYUSH facility within the hospital premises to provide comprehensive health services rooted in traditional medicine.

The inauguration was met with heartfelt appreciation from local residents, who lauded the government’s responsiveness in addressing critical healthcare needs of the region.

Later in the day, the Minister visited the Martyr Sabzar Ahmad Shah Memorial Girls High School in Ahmadabad, Kulgam. Interacting with students and staff, she underscored the administration’s ongoing focus on delivering quality education across all regions of Jammu and Kashmir.

The event witnessed the presence of several senior officials, including the Director of School Education, Kashmir; Director of Health Services; Director of Coordination for New Government Medical Colleges (GMCs); Director of Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS); and other dignitaries.
