Assam Chief Minister Shri Himanta Biswa Sarma Meets Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi in New Delhi




New Delhi, 19 April 2025: The Chief Minister of Assam, Shri Himanta Biswa Sarma, met with the Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi, today in New Delhi. The high-level meeting focused on various key issues pertinent to the state of Assam, including ongoing development projects, regional security concerns, and economic initiatives aimed at fostering growth and progress in the region.

During the meeting, Shri Sarma briefed the Prime Minister on the state's recent achievements and challenges, highlighting the government's commitment to inclusive development. Discussions also revolved around enhancing collaboration between the central and state governments to ensure the timely implementation of critical infrastructure projects, particularly in the sectors of education, healthcare, and connectivity.

Shri Sarma extended his gratitude to Prime Minister Modi for the central government’s continuous support to Assam, particularly in areas of funding for large-scale development initiatives, as well as assistance in addressing the state’s unique socio-economic challenges. The Chief Minister also briefed the Prime Minister on the successful implementation of various welfare schemes aimed at uplifting vulnerable communities across the state.

Both leaders emphasised the importance of ensuring peace and stability in the region and deliberated on strengthening the security framework to ensure the safety of all citizens.

The meeting was an important step in reinforcing the strong and cooperative relationship between the Assam state government and the Centre, with a shared commitment to the region’s overall development.
