Tragic Suicide of Student from Dalaal Mohalla: MLA Shamim Firdous Visits Family, Demands Action




Srinagar, 25 May 2025: A 17-year-old student from Dalaal Mohalla, studying at Kashmir Harvard Educational Institute, allegedly died by suicide in his home, leaving the community in deep shock and mourning.

Family members claim the boy was humiliated in the school chairman’s office over a tattoo on his arm, with both the chairman and some teachers reportedly subjecting him to public disgrace. The incident is believed to have caused severe emotional trauma.

MLA Habba Kadal, Advocate Shamim Firdous, visited the grieving family to express her condolences and solidarity. She assured them that the matter would be brought to the notice of the Honourable Education Minister and concerned administration.

Firdous further stated that strict action would be taken against those found responsible for the student’s distress, stressing the need for accountability in educational institutions. She also called for greater sensitivity in dealing with students and emphasized the importance of mental health support in schools.
