Prime Minister Chairs CCS Meeting Following Pahalgam Terror Attack

New Delhi, 23 April 2025: In response to the heinous terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi on Wednesday chaired a high-level meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) at his official residence, 7, Lok Kalyan Marg.

The emergency session, convened in the wake of the assault that claimed 26 civilian lives and left several others injured, was aimed at reviewing the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir and assessing the immediate and long-term responses to the incident.

Senior ministers, including the Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, were present, alongside top officials.

Sources close to the proceedings indicated that the CCS reviewed the operational aspects of the counter-terror response, intelligence coordination, and potential diplomatic implications given the involvement of a Pakistan-based terror outfit, which has reportedly claimed responsibility.

Prime Minister Modi is said to have reiterated the government’s zero-tolerance policy towards terrorism and directed that all necessary steps be taken to bring the perpetrators to justice. He also emphasised the need to strengthen on-ground security, especially in vulnerable regions with civilian and tourist presence.

The CCS meet comes amid widespread public mourning and calls for national unity and firm action in the face of escalating terror threats.
