Awareness Camp organized at contained village Chushot Div Com, Ladakh visits with central medical team




Leh, Mar 10 : With a view to educating people about the precautionary measures to be taken to contain COVID-19 and to build confidence in the contained village Chushot Gongma, a high level team visited the village from where two cases of coronavirus were detected in Leh recently. The patients are isolated and undergoing treatment at SNM Hospital Leh.

The team comprising of three doctors from the Central Government headed by Dr. Jugal Kishore spoke to the elected representatives of the village and people from various hamlets of the village. The doctors answered to the queries of the people and educated them about the Dos and Don'ts that are needed to be followed especially in the next couple of weeks. Doctors also demonstrated how to wash hands and other measures including personal hygiene etc. The team visited some houses in the village too and spread awareness during the visit.

Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC, Leh Gyal P. Wangyal also joined the team and spoke to the people of the village. He urged the people to maintain peace during the quarantine period and requested them to be in close coordination with the district administration. He said that administration is following the National Protocol regarding containment of their village and assured that all essential services and supplies will be provided by the district administration from time to time.

Divisional Commissioner, Ladakh, Saugat Biswas while speaking to the people urged them to spread awareness about basic precautions to each and every house-hold of Chushot Gongma for containment of possible spread of COVID-19 further and urged them to not feel cut-off. He reassured the people that district administration has deputed medical support in the village and is arranging for seamless supply of essential commodities, LPG, banking support and other requirements of the villagers. District administration as well as himself are just a call away he assured. During the visit Divisional Commissioner, Biswas ordered for creation of a medical facility in the village with sub-centre level facilities immediately.

Regarding availability of essential services and supply of day-to-day commodities, Deputy Commissioner, Leh, Sachin Vaishya assured to further improve all facilities like supply of essential commodities. Banking facilities will also start from tomorrow in the quarantine area he informed. DC Leh also shared helpline numbers regarding the queries about COVID-19.

Regarding action on persons spreading rumors on social media, DC Leh said that an FIR against those who posted such content in the social media has already been registered and the district administration is strictly monitoring the group admins of all social media groups.

The people of the village conveyed their gratitude to the visiting team and thanked them for the confidence building and valuable information regarding COVID-19.

Dr. Mahesh Waghmare, Dr. Kaur from the central medical team, Counicllor, LAHDC, Syeda Bano; President Anjuman Imamiya, Ashraf Ali Barcha; BDC Chairperson Chushot and Sarpanch Chushot Gongpa and people from different mohallas were also present during the awareness camp.
