Leader of Opposition Shri Rahul Gandhi Visits Geeta Bhawan Temple Affected by Recent Shelling Poonch, 24 May 2025: Shri Rahul Gandhi, Member of Parliament and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, visited the Geeta Bhawan Temple in Poonch today, which has been severely affected by the recent shelling by the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. During his visit, Shri Gandhi expressed his solidarity with the local community and offered his support in the wake of the damage caused to the sacred site. Shri Gandhi took time to assess the extent of the damage and assured the temple authorities that steps would be taken to ensure the restoration of the temple and its surroundings. He emphasised the importance of preserving religious and cultural heritage, particularly in areas affected by violence, and reiterated his commitment to standing by the people of Jammu and Kashmir during such trying times. The visit underscored the need for greater protection of religious sites and the rebuilding of affected areas, so that communities can continue to practice their faith without fear. |
