Minister of External Affairs of India Meets Prime Minister of the Netherlands in The Hague




The Hague, 20 May 2025: Dr. S. Jaishankar, India’s Minister of External Affairs, held a productive meeting today with Dick Schoof, the Prime Minister of the Netherlands, in The Hague. The meeting focused on strengthening the strategic partnership between the two nations, particularly in areas such as trade, innovative technology, agriculture, and security.

Dr. Jaishankar took to X (formerly Twitter) following the meeting, stating: “Delighted to call on PM Dick Schoof today in The Hague. Conveyed the warm greetings of PM Narendra Modi and thanked him for the Netherlands’ firm and resolute stance against terrorism. Appreciate his commitment to taking the India-Netherlands partnership to newer heights. Assured that our teams will work hard to achieve these goals.”

Prime Minister Schoof also shared his thoughts on the meeting via X, writing: “Pleased to welcome India’s Minister of External Affairs, @DrSJaishankar, to the Catshuis. First of all, I expressed my support for India’s fight against terrorism in the wake of the horrific attack last month in Pahalgam. It is good for all parties that the violence between India and Pakistan has not escalated further. We also spoke about our Strategic Partnership. This concerns long-term cooperation between the Netherlands and India in areas including trade, innovative technology, agriculture and security. In a changing world, it is important for both the Netherlands and India that we can continue to count on one another. I look forward to welcoming Prime Minister Modi to our country soon to discuss this further.”

The discussions between the two leaders highlighted the strong bilateral ties between India and the Netherlands, with both sides expressing their commitment to enhancing cooperation in various strategic sectors. The Netherlands reaffirmed its unwavering support for India’s efforts in combating terrorism, particularly in light of the recent attack in Pahalgam, which has further strengthened the resolve to combat terrorism globally.
